X and Y Group
Indian Air Force Airmen Group X
& Y are the workforce under officer rank in the Indian Air Force. Airmen
Group X & Y exam is conducted by the Indian Air Force for the selecting airmen into
the Indian Air Force. Indian Air Force Group X & Y is a national level
examination, conducted twice a year, in March and September. This test is one
of the best ways for young undergraduates looking for an opportunity to join
the Indian Air Force.
Indian Air Force offers
many opportunities for career growth which include free educational
qualifications and training. There are two groups, Group X and Group Y, both of
which have two trades technical and non-technical. After joining the Air Force,
the Air Man of the technical group remains involved in the operation of
aircraft, weapons, radars, and special vehicles. While the non-technical Air
Man is involved in financials, accountancy, administration, human resource
management, security, logistic support, vehicle transportation, and many other
types of work.

Criteria
Age Criteria
Group X & Y (excluding Education
Instructor and musician Trade): 17-21 years, born between 19 July 2001 and 01
July 2005.
Group X (Education instructor
trade): 20-25 years
Group Y (Musician Trade): 17-25
years
Educational qualification

Group X (Technical Trade) | Passed Intermediate/ 12th / equivalent examination with Physics, Mathematics with a minimum of 50% aggregated marks and 50% marks in English. Or Passed 3-year Diploma course in engineering in any stream from a recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in aggregate (if English not a subject in diploma, must have 50% marks in English in 10th). |
Group X (Education instructor trade) | BA with English as one the subjects or B.Sc. with Physics/ Psychology/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ IT / Computer Science/ Statistics as one of the subjects or BCA with a minimum 50% marks. Or MA in English/ Psychology or M.Sc. Mathematics/ Physics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ IT or MCA with a minimum of 50% marks. B.Ed. degree with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized institute. Graduation and B.Ed. program should be recognized by UGC/ NCTE/ Competent accreditation authority. |
Group Y (Non-technical Trade) | Passed Intermediate/ 12th / equivalent exam in any of the stream with 50% Aggregated and 50% marks in English. |
Group Y (Medical Assistant Trade) | Passed Intermediate / 12th / equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, and 50% marks in English. |
Group Y (Musician Trade) | Passed Matriculation /10th class or equivalent with minimum pass marks from any Government recognised School/Boards and must be skilled in playing at least one among the subsequent musical instruments: Trumpet / Violin/ Bass / Saxophone / Clarinet / Euphonium / Jazz-Drum / Piccolo / Bass Trombone / Key Board/ Sarod / Guitar/ Viola / Cello / String Bass. |
Physical and Medical Standards
For the selection in the position of
an Airman, the candidate must be physically and mentally fit to perform duties
in any part of the world, climate, and environment. Physical/Medical Standards for
an Airman set by Central Airmen Selection Board.
